Associate Attorney - Tax Controversy Department

- Position: Seeking an experienced Associate Attorney (1-3 years) to join the Tax Controversy Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients before IRS and tax authorities (payment plans, Offer in Compromise, compliance issues).
- Advocate in federal and state tax audits (income, sales tax, etc.).
- Research and advise on IRS issues, including tax assessments, penalties, and collections.
- Draft communications to tax authorities.
- Handle IRS account issues for individuals and businesses, including entity classification corrections.
- Collaborate on tax-related issues with other firm departments (corporate, crypto).
- Participate in firm training.
- Advise clients on tax and crypto-related matters.
Basic Qualifications:
- J.D., licensed in Illinois.
- Experience with federal and state tax matters for individuals and businesses.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent research and writing abilities.
- Ability to simplify complex tax issues for clients.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of tax law experience.
- Knowledge of cryptocurrency tax issues.
- Experience with IRS payment plans, audits, and disputes.
- Familiarity with Tax Court and District Court proceedings.
