CNC Programmer – Turning Department

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer specializing in turning operations to join our team. This role focuses on creating efficient and precise CNC programs to support production goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Mastercam, G&M codes, and turning tool applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize CNC programs for lathes using Mastercam to meet production and quality requirements.
  • Understand and edit G&M codes as necessary to enhance program performance and ensure proper functionality.
  • Select appropriate feeds, speeds, and tooling for a wide variety of materials, including exotic materials, ensuring optimal machine utilization.
  • Collaborate with machinists on the shop floor to troubleshoot issues and provide technical support during setup and operation.
  • Interpret engineering documentation, including GD&T, customer drawings, sketches, and heat treatment requirements, to accurately program parts.
  • Partner with engineering to assist in process planning, including work holding solutions and defining the order of operations.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to create and modify tooling models, verify clearances, and extract solid models for programming purposes.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth production workflows and resolve issues.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including program files, setup sheets, and tooling libraries.
  • Work with exotic materials and adhere to aerospace manufacturing standards where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience programming CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Mastercam programming software.
  • Strong knowledge of G&M codes and turning tool applications.
  • Hands-on shop experience with the ability to recommend and apply appropriate feeds and speeds.
  • Proficiency in interpreting GD&T and complex engineering documentation.
  • Experience with SolidWorks is highly recommended for tooling design and modeling.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
  • Aerospace gear turning experience is a plus.
  • Experience working with exotic materials is desirable.
  • Operating CNC machines experience is a plus.
  • U.S. citizenship or Green Card holder status is required.
