Engineering Manager SOW -Contract to Hire - Full Benefits $150,000-$170,000 Franklin Park, IL Kelly Engineering is recruiting for an Engineering Manager for a leading manufacturer specializing in OEM and POP merchandising solutions, The Engineering Manager will oversee both the Engineering and Estimating departments. This role is integral to the company's strategic growth, requiring a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, process improvement capabilities, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Management: - Lead and integrate the Engineering and Estimating teams to operate seamlessly.
- Mentor, develop, and manage a team of engineers and estimators to ensure alignment with company goals.
- Build and implement a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Engineering Oversight: - Provide technical leadership on design, manufacturing processes, and engineering projects.
- Review and approve designs and engineering deliverables, ensuring compliance with ISO standards.
- Act as a working engineer when necessary, contributing to technical problem-solving and project execution.
Estimating Oversight: - Oversee the estimation process, including reviewing SolidWorks files, analyzing customer prints (PDF and CAD formats), and ensuring accurate input into the ERP system.
- Develop and maintain efficient estimating workflows to improve turnaround times and accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with operations to ensure estimators understand manufacturing requirements and processes.
Process Development & Implementation: - Streamline and improve cross-functional processes between the Engineering and Estimating departments.
- Develop systems and procedures that support scalability and operational excellence.
- Implement and manage quality assurance measures to align with ISO standards.
Strategic Contributions: - Collaborate with executive leadership to align departmental goals with the company's strategic objectives.
- Identify and drive opportunities for innovation, cost optimization, and process improvements.
- Serve as a key advisor in capital planning, technology adoption, and organizational development.
Key Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in engineering roles, including leadership positions.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, ERP systems, and technical drawing interpretation.
- Strong knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.
- Experience in OEM manufacturing and POP merchandising is highly desirable.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to gain buy-in from diverse stakeholders.
- Proven track record of process improvement and team development.
