Akkodis is seeking an Entry-leve l Materials Test Engineer/Technician (SEM Operator) for a Contract position in Lisle, IL This position requires experience in the operation and interpretation of results in SEM/EDS analysis and Optical Microscopy.


  • Rate Range: $38 - $45 per hour. The rate may be negotiable depending on experience, education, geographic location and other factors.
  • Duration: 6-12 months
  • Location: Lisle, IL


Materials Test Engineer/Technician (SEM Operator) - Contract Role

This position will handle multiple Analytical Services and Failure Analysis projects for multiple business divisions and business units which may be global.

In cases of performing failure analysis, critical thinking, creative and in-depth analysis is required to arrive at root cause(s) to share with internal customers.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Process Analytical Test Requests.
  • Conduct advanced analysis on components, materials and electronic assemblies using.


Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in the operation and interpretation of results in SEM/EDS analysis and Optical Microscopy.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or Sciences
  • 6 months or more experience in a laboratory environment providing analytical services and conducting failure analysis activities. (This can be in internship or project work in school.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to express complex technical concepts clearly and concisely and author engineering reports.
  • Interpersonal skills to work with others effectively including global contacts.


Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials or Metallurgy.
  • 5+ years of experience in a laboratory environment providing analytical services and conducting failure analysis activities on electronic assemblies or materials.
  • Experience with FTIR, SEM, FIB-SEM, Confocal Microscopy, and XRF.
  • Experience or knowledge of other analytical techniques such as XPS, Auger, X-Ray Diffraction, DSC, TGA, hardness testing, etc.
  • Copper alloy material analysis and metallurgy experience.
  • Plating surface analysis and general process knowledge.
  • Electronic assembly failure analysis experience.
