The role will involve leading collective bargaining strategies, advising on employee relations issues, and representing the City in labor-related disputes.The anticipated hiring range for this position is $120,000-$150,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The pay grade for this position is L04.Responsibilities:Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including collective bargaining, discipline, grievances, employment discrimination, and employee benefits.Develop and implement collective bargaining strategies for managementβs consideration and facilitate negotiations as needed.Represent the City in labor arbitrations, grievances, and other disputes, working closely with city departments and officials to ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations.Conduct legal research, draft opinions, policies, and other legal documents, and provide training on labor and employment matters to City employees and officials.Collaborate with other members of the legal team and City departments to address and resolve legal issues in a timely and effective manner.Maintain a high level of professionalism, ethical standards, and confidentiality in all aspects of the role.Minimum Requirements:Minimum of 5 yearsβ experience as a licensed attorney, with a focus on labor and employment law and collective bargaining negotiations.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in public labor and employment law, including negotiating and administering municipal union contracts, interest arbitration, grievance arbitration, disciplinary investigations, and employment discrimination litigation.Application Instructions:Applications should be completed thoroughly, and resumes will not be accepted in lieu of an application but should be attached to the application.
