We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and build large scale, highly impactful Permissions and Access Management Systems with companywide reach. You will collaborate with the leadership team to drive key engineering and business decisions that will influence the Amazon developer experience. You will contribute to all parts of the software development and deployment lifecycle across the entire Amazon development community, including design, implementation, documentation, deployment, and operations across multiple products.

Successful candidates will have strong software engineering fundamentals (object-oriented design, algorithms, and data structures) and a good grasp of advanced systems concepts and design. They must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and deliver high results in a fast-paced environment.

A day in the life

A typical day in this role might involve:

1. Showcasing innovative customer experiences that delight users through interactive demos and collaborating with UX designers to translate customer needs into impactful product features.
2. Developing data-driven strategies to identify and reach target customer segments.
3. Tackling ambiguous, large-scale challenges with a systematic, creative approach.
4. Providing thoughtful technical guidance to the team and establishing the long-term engineering vision.
5. Collaborating on the design, implementation, and deployment of secure, scalable internet-scale systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
