Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $102,300.00 to $170,500.00. This position is eligible for participation in our short-term incentive program in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The range provided is not a guarantee of compensation and reflects the potential base pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position.

About the Role

The Sr. Software Engineer is a hands-on development role responsible for creating software solutions that will help Grainger grow as a business. This position is ideal for someone who is skilled and passionate about software development, focused on building an inclusive engineering culture and creating solutions that help our customers β€˜Get The Job Done’.

You Will:

  1. Use your talent to innovate and transform complex concepts into clean, simple solutions.
  2. Write highly maintainable and performing code with ample relevant test coverage.
  3. Investigate and resolve application issues, bottlenecks and inefficiencies using our DevOps tools.
  4. Conduct and participate in code reviews that span multiple languages and applications.
  5. Support and develop software engineers by providing advice, coaching, and feedback.
  6. Participate in Agile Ceremonies to provide feedback and communicate project status.

You Have:

  1. 5+ years of software engineering preferably leveraging Object Oriented languages.
  2. Strong TDD (Test Driven Development) advocate and practitioner.
  3. Full stack engineer with experience using Java Spring, writing PL/SQL for relational databases, and queries for NoSQL datastores (MongoDB, Couchbase, etc.).
  4. Experience securing software applications using established protocols and guidelines such as OWASP.
  5. Experience with UNIX filesystem and using UNIX based tools.
  6. Familiarity with configuring and running containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
  7. Familiarity with several DevOps tools such as Splunk, Dyntrace, etc.
  8. Experience with managing applications in public cloud offerings such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure.
